Low-Temperature Technology Leads a Green Future | Zhongke Fuhai Shines at the 17th National Cryogenic Engineering Conference 2025

2025-12-03

From November 26 to 28, 2025, the 17th National Cryogenic Engineering Conference was successfully held in Zhongshan, Guangdong, the hometown of great leaders. Distinguished guests, including Academician Wang Qiuliang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Li Dong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Gong Maoqiong, Chair of the Cryogenics Committee of the Chinese Refrigeration Society, Ouyang Jinquan, Vice Mayor of Zhongshan, and Gong Linghui, Director of the Zhongshan Institute of Advanced Cryogenic Technology, attended the event.

The conference, themed “Innovative Cryogenic Technology Driving Green Development”, was jointly organized by the Cryogenics Committee of the Chinese Refrigeration Society and the Zhongshan Institute of Advanced Cryogenic Technology. Over a thousand experts, scholars, and corporate representatives from across China gathered to discuss breakthroughs in cryogenic technology, explore paths for industrial collaboration, and envision a new blueprint for technology-enabled high-quality development. Zhongke Fuhai Technology Co., Ltd. was invited to participate in this prestigious event.

The conference focused precisely on specialized industry segments, featuring eight sub-forums covering small- and medium-sized cryogenic refrigeration, large-scale and ultra-low-temperature refrigeration technologies, gas liquefaction technologies and applications, among others—comprehensively covering the core tracks of cryogenic engineering.

Dr. Zhang Chunxia, Director of Zhongke Fuhai’s R&D Center, was invited to deliver a keynote report at the Cryogenic Heat Transfer and Insulation Sub-Forum titled “Research on Flow Characteristics of Cryogenic Control Valves.” The report emphasized that control valves, as core actuators in low-temperature process control systems, have flow characteristics that directly affect the accuracy and stability of the controlled objects. Traditional valves, due to fixed geometrical structures, exhibit single flow curves and high deviation under variable operating conditions.

Focusing on industrial-grade pneumatic control valves, the team established a closed-loop methodology of “theoretical calculation – CFD simulation – prototype testing”, optimizing spool profiles, flow areas, and structural design. Prototypes were tested and third-party certified according to GB/T 4213 standards. After optimization, the valve flow characteristic error was reduced from 0–30% to ±5%, providing a domestically controllable key actuator for high-precision cryogenic control systems.

Liquid hydrogen, as a core solution for efficient hydrogen storage and transportation, plays a crucial role in cost reduction across the entire hydrogen energy value chain. Zhongke Fuhai led the construction of China’s first domestically developed civilian full-chain liquid hydrogen demonstration project, successfully integrating production, storage, transportation, and refueling. The project achieved autonomous control over multiple core technologies and equipment, not only overcoming bottlenecks in large-scale hydrogen energy applications but also providing solutions for the promotion of hydrogen-fueled commercial vehicles and new energy storage applications.

The efficient application of liquid hydrogen and future energy sources relies heavily on the safety and technological advancement of storage and transportation. In the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as China’s first manufacturing base for large-scale cryogenic storage and transportation equipment, Zhongke Fuhai is proactively planning and investing in construction, writing a new chapter in the safe and efficient development of the clean energy industry.

Cryogenic technology has broad applications across various industries. Facilities such as controlled nuclear fusion devices, large-scale particle accelerators, synchrotron radiation sources, and future quantum technology platforms all require operation in extremely low-temperature environments, ranging from liquid helium to superfluid helium (2K–4.5K). Therefore, large-scale cryogenic refrigeration equipment serves as the “cold-source heart” of these national-level critical facilities, providing essential support to maintain stable operation of core devices.

Over the past decade, under the guidance of the Institute of Physics and Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhongke Fuhai has focused on the development of large-scale cryogenic refrigeration equipment covering the 2K–20K range, from liquid hydrogen to superfluid helium. The company has successfully integrated over thirty sets of series helium refrigeration and liquefaction systems, comprehensively meeting customer demands for cooling capacities at the hundred-kilowatt level, and has achieved successful delivery and operation.

The stable operation of every cryogenic system relies on the support of the core medium, helium. As a strategically scarce gas resource, helium plays a critical role in aerospace, semiconductor manufacturing, cryogenic superconductivity, medical imaging, and other fields. Zhongke Fuhai’s long-term expertise in LNG helium extraction, helium purification, liquefaction, and applications not only ensures the autonomous and controllable supply of this strategic national resource but also expands the application value of helium and other rare gases in semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, and other high-tech sectors.

Cryogenic technology leads the way toward a green future. It serves as a core support for high-end manufacturing and a key safeguard in many strategic fields. The “15th Five-Year Plan Recommendations,” adopted at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee, explicitly calls for accelerated development of strategic emerging industries such as new energy, aerospace, and low-altitude economy, while also laying out forward-looking industries including nuclear fusion, quantum technology, and hydrogen energy. Cryogenic engineering acts as the “cold support” for high-end manufacturing, the “solid foundation” for energy transition, and the “critical piece” in national strategic fields.

Relying on decades of large-scale cryogenic technology achievements from the Institute of Physics and Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhongke Fuhai has, over the years, deeply cultivated core equipment in the 20K–2K temperature range, continuously advancing breakthroughs in key areas such as cryogenics, hydrogen energy, and gas technology. Through independent innovation, the company has broken foreign monopolies, injecting strong momentum into China’s cryogenic engineering industry. From the demonstration and implementation of the full domestic liquid hydrogen industry chain, to the technological upgrades of cryogenic storage and transportation equipment; from the domestic development of large-scale hydrogen-helium cryogenic equipment, to the efficient utilization of helium and rare gases—Zhongke Fuhai, with its commitment of “deeply cultivating cryogenics, empowering the future,” is driving a leap from single-point breakthroughs to full industry chain collaboration. This will contribute significantly to the high-quality development of China’s cryogenic engineering industry, the achievement of green “dual carbon” goals, and the safeguarding of national strategic security.
